Creating a Blog Post
Click the Create New Post at the top right of the Blog Manager and a new post editor will open up for you.
At the top of the editor you have tools to add media to your post. Upload new videos or photos, or add media you already have in your Organizer.
Adding from the Organizer
Adding a new image
After clicking the Insert image icon you’ll get a popup where you can either enter the image URL if hosted somewhere else, or click the Folder button to upload the image from your computer. If your image is already on SlickPic please see the previous paragraph, adding a photo from Organizer.
Select all the photos you want to include in your post. You can organize them once they are in there.
Tip: To select all photos, click Select All or select individual photos.
Add the text you want to include in your post and use the text formatting tools to change the font size, color, add bold, italic effects, etc.
It’s important to add a Featured image. This is the image your blog viewers will have at the top of your blog post, as well as the cover image for the post on the blog page on your website or gallery and the image that will be used if you or others share it on social media. Take note of the list style that you have selected when setting up your blog (see the article on How to set up your blog) when adding your featured image: some of the list styles only show image thumbnails, others show a larger cover image. If you have chosen the Card style, you should ensure your photo has a 16:9 aspect ratio otherwise it will be trimmed.
Settings
You can add additional settings, such as allowing comments or showing the author name. If you have already set this up at a blog level, you can leave the default Inherit from settings option.
Check the box if you want to hide the blog except from your blog page, so that only the photo is displayed.
You can also hide the featured image from the top of the post page. For example, if you have included the featured image in your blog, you might not want to repeat it on the post page itself. The featured image will still be displayed on the blog cover page.
Add SEO to your blog posts by including a meta title and description.
You can choose to allow the posts to be included in SlickPic’s blog. If you have already checked this box in the Blog Manager, you can choose to exclude specific posts by selecting ‘Disallow’ from the dropdown.
Click the Delete button to delete the post.
Publishing your post
When publishing your post, you can publish it immediately or select a custom date. You can also hide the publish date from your blog viewers.
To choose a custom date just click the Change link then select the date from the calendar.
If you want to schedule your post for later, select a future date on the calendar. Then, when you click Publish, the post will not go live until the selected date even though it will appear in the Published area of your Blog Manager. If you want to change the publish date on your post to a date in the past, just select the date from the calendar. When you click Publish, your post will go live immediately but the date that appears as the publish date will be the one you selected. You can also do this after the post has been published.
Your posts will always be sorted in order of the publish date, whether this is hidden or not.
When you are ready, click Publish at the top of the page. You can Unpublish the post at any time.
Congratulations, your first blog post is completed. You can add more posts by going to Blog Manager and clicking the Add New Post button.
We have a team or curators who check photos submitted to your personal Exhibit (i.e. public photos) and also your blog posts. Posts that they like will be shared to the public Exhibit menu, giving you some free exposure. These posts may also be shared on SlickPic social media accounts where you will of course be credited. If you don’t want your posts to be shared by us, just email us at [email protected]
