A blog is a great way to remind your followers that you are an active, working photographer. It’s also an excellent way to improve your site SEO.
Access the Blog Manager from the main menu.
General Information
On the Blog Settings tab add a title and a description for your blog.
Next, check the box to allow comments on your blog posts. You can alter this on specific blog posts if you want.
The second box is to allow us to feature your posts for our SlickPic blog. Getting your posts featured on our blog is great for driving traffic to your site and increasing exposure but you can turn this off by unchecking the box here or on individual posts if you don’t want to share them with a wider audience.
Blog Author
Add your author name and a short bio. Check the box if you want your bio to appear on the blog posts by default (you can still change these at an individual post level).
Listing Style
Choose our Post Listing Style from the options: Large Photo, List Left, List Right, Columns or Cards. All styles except Cards work with any photos.
- Use Large style to showcase the blog’s featured image. The description will appear underneath the photo.
- If you want text to appear alongside the photos, choose from List Left or List Right. These styles only feature thumbnails of the blogs’ featured images.
- The Columns style also uses thumbnails but displays the blogs in two columns with the description beneath.
- Cards style requires photos with the aspect ratio 16 x 9. Larger photos will be trimmed to fit. The blog description will appear on top of the card. You can always change the post listing style later and this won’t affect the original format of the photo.
Blog Settings in Gallery
Check the box if you want to add your blog to the Gallery. Once you have a published post, your blog will be accessible to visitors on your Gallery page.
When this box is checked, you get some additional options. Choose the color scheme settings from white, black or, choose ‘Inherit from Gallery Settings’ to choose the same color scheme as you have set up in your gallery already.
Next, you can assign SEO settings, including a meta title and description. For more information, check Google’s support information on SEO.
Note: If you have added the blog to your website, you can add the SEO directly from the page settings. Find out how in the article How to Add a Blog to Your Website.
Once you are done, click Save.
To create your first post, go to Blog Manager and click the Add New Post button. For more information, read the article on How to Create a Blog Post.
