What are Album Thumbnails and Cover Photos?
The Album Thumbnails are the photos that you use as your album covers when viewing them in the gallery. They function as icons, which you can click to access that album.
The Album Cover is the background cover photo your viewers will see when they enter your gallery or view your album.
Setting the Album Cover in Organizer
The album cover can be set either in Organizer or Gallery. First, let’s see how to set it from Organizer.
Navigate to the photo you want to add as an album cover and select Album Cover from the image dropdown menu.
In the pop-up window there is an option to either apply this as the cover photo or the thumbnail photo (or both). The album in the dropdown is the album which it will be applied to.
Repositioning the Photo
After the Album Cover photo is selected, you can go to the album in the Gallery and reposition the photo. First, switch the gallery to Owner View and then select Reposition from the Albums menu.
Repositioning the photo is simply a question of clicking and dragging with your mouse. Then, when you are happy, click Save Cover Photo.
Selecting a Cover Image in Gallery
You can also choose a cover photo from other photos from your SlickPic account, or from your computer.
From the cover photo menu, select Choose from my photos and you can navigate all the photos in your SlickPic account and select the one you would like to add.
To upload a photo from your computer, select the option Upload photo. After selecting or uploading your cover photo, you can reposition it, as before, by clicking and dragging.
The cover image will be automatically cropped to the aspect ratio 4:1 so, for best results, we recommend using a minimum size of 3840 × 1152 pixels. Anything smaller will be stretched to fit and image quality will be reduced.
Other Settings
In the Customize Album settings, you can choose to show the cover photo, disable it or make it the same as the gallery.
You set your cover photo to be the same as in the gallery, set the gallery options as explained here.
Change the default cover photo settings by navigating to Account > Album and Collection settings. See how to do this here. Then, every time you create a new album or collection, that will be the default setting you’ll see.
